A sensual, old-vine Grenache-dominated blend of elegance and structure, named for the notorious beast that ravaged the medieval countryside of the Cotes du Rhone. According to legend, the dragon was a reluctant tyrant, gladly saved by the soothing hymns and prayers of Saint Martha.

Winemaker Aaron Pott of Pott Wine in Napa is a fascinating story behind a new, unique bottle of Cotes-du-Rhone called La Tarasque 2011 (named after a dragon-like, scorpion-hippo monster, who legend says ate the people and animals of Tarascon, Rhone). It's comprised of 70%, 35-year-old vine Grenache and 30% Syrah.
