“I found the 2020 Grands Echézeaux equally as impressive in bottle as I had out of the barrel. The wine, however, was different – initially relatively closed, it began to open only with time in the glass when a black cherry and mulberry fruit started to come to the fore with hints of earth and smoke. It had lost the exotic, forward element I had tasted in the barrel, but showed more substancee and richness here, with supple tannins and impressive length. When this wine opens back up again, it will be spectacular.” CC Jul 2023
AG97+ “The 2020 Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru is one of the most surprising wines in this lineup. In many ways, the RSV is the quintessential wine at DRC in 2020, as it captures all the qualities that make this vintage so appealing. Sage, mint, blood orange, chalk and red-toned fruit are all lifted by bright saline notes that lend energy and drive from start to finish. A Burgundy of dynamic energy and precision, the 2020 RSV is quite simply dazzling.” AG for VM Mar 2023
