The Mercouri Estate has been operating since the late 1800s and imported the first Refosco vines from Italy’s Friuli region during that time. While Refosco dominates the blend there is also 15% of the iconic red Greek grape, Mavrodaphne. After hand-harvesting and fermenting the grapes, the wine ages for a year in French oak casks.
