The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra is a big step up from the straight bottling. Ample and rich on the palate, this dramatic Brunello offers terrific depth throughout. Black cherry, plum, spice, licorice, new leather and smoke flesh out effortlessly. Soft contours and lovely aromatic development make the 2011 quite appealing today, although there is also enough depth to support at least a few years in the cellar. This is one of the better wines of the year.
