The Campofiorin represents a special 50th anniversary (1964-2014) bottling of this unique wine. The bouquet is steady and smooth in delivery with a steady succession of black fruit flavors followed by smoke, ash, licorice and road pavement. Campofiorin is a Valpolicella-inspired red blend that sees a secondary fermentation on the skins of Amarone. This process gives the wine intensity and power that is just one step shy of its big brother Amarone. This vintage is a touch leaner and thinner in terms of mouthfeel. Happy birthday Campofiorin
As a leader in Verona, Masi perfected a style of winemaking that highlights the region’s native grapes while innovating the traditional appassimento (drying grapes) technique. In this red, a small percentage of semi-dried grapes are added into a base wine for further fermentation, which brings richness and concentration, yet the wine still retains its fruit-forward and fresh character. Bright acidity is a benchmark of all Masi wines, keeping this delectable red, tinged with dried plums and fig, light on its feet. This robust and inviting wine is a warming companion to fall-off-the-bone short ribs or a creamy mushroom risotto.
