Château Meyney is the neighbour of Château Montrose, the prestigious 2nd Cru Classé. It has a wonderful vineyard and its owners manage to make the most of it to produce a typical Saint-Estèphe. Though not from one of the greatest vintages, this 2008 proves to be excellent after a few years, with superb aromas of blackberries, liquorice, toast and spices. Finish is tannic, yet finely balanced with a welcome freshness. Another very nice bottle to drink now!
Prieur de Meyney 2012 presents a deep red dress that promises a rich wine. On the nose, this wine is expressive and confirms the plenitude of the dress by revealing notes of black fruits, plum, quetsche to which succeed notes of liquorice and vanilla. This vintage reveals a supple, greedy and fruity mouth that extends on a mentholated variation.
