Formed some 750,000 years ago, the Limestone Coast region in the south-east of South Australia consists of an underlying limestone base which, when coupled with the relatively cool climate, contributes to unique grape growing conditions. On fine, deep and fertile soils, Langhorne Creek is one of Australia’s oldest and most significant wine regions. Adjacent to Lake Alexandrina, Australia’s largest permanent freshwater lake, the region’s climate is characterized by low winter dominant rainfall, and due to cooling breezes from the lake, enjoys moderate daytime temperatures during the growing season.
